Now animals encroach Govt infrastructure

ITANAGAR, Jul 9: Alleged  encroachment of Govt land is reported from everywhere from the state. But this time, Govt properties were encroached upon by domestic animals in Pumao circle headquarters in Tirap district.

According to All Pumao Circle Students Union (APCSU), the Pumao Circle  HQ was established 28 years ago and infrastructure like CO office cum-residence, health sub-centre, police station etc were also constructed years back.  After the 28 years of establishment, no Govt staff was posted there, except 2/3 SSA teachers at the ME school, the union claimed. The union further said that most of the infrastructures built for the circle headquarters collapsed without any sign of Govt activities. Instead of Govt staff, domestic animals of Pumao take shelter in these buildings.

Unlike other circles of the state,  Pumao  remains underdeveloped till date, the union lamented.

On the other hand 25 km  Longding-Pumao road constructed  more than a decade ago is in dilapidated condition.  The  road is going from bad to worse and  it has developed potholes and remain unfit for vehicular movement.

The Union appealed the state Govt not to belie the hopes and expectations and undo the gross injustice inflicted upon the Pumao people by making the circle HQ functional for all practical purposes.

Claims over school encroachment

ITANAGAR, Jul 9: The parent body of Govt. M.E school Mani, in a release, strongly reacted to the press statement given by All Papum Pare District Student Union (APPDSU) regarding encroachment of the school boundary which was published in local dailies few days back.

Welcoming the initiative of the district students’ union and its interest to solve the encroachment of school land of the entire Papum Pare district, the president of Doimukh branch GB Association as well as GB of Mani village, who is also vice chairman of the school managing and development committee (SMDC) said that APPDSU should have visited the spot and consulted with panchayat leaders, GB and SMDC members to find out the real fact of the allegation before going to the press.

It appealed to the student union to have spot verification and discuss the issue with the members of SMDC, panchayat leaders, GB and intellectuals of the village to find out the ground reality.

It also refuted the allegations of physical assault on headmistress and attempt of burning down the school building. “It is purely false and fabricated story told to the students union by the headmistress,” the release said.

It is pertinent to mention here that APPDSU has decided to take up the encroachment issue in the larger interest of the school and students community of the school.

Besides, the present headmistress has fixed the admission fee ranging from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 5000 for old and new admission which is serious violation of Right to Education Act and direction of the sate Govt. for free education, the release claimed and appealed to the students union to take up the issue seriously.

It also questioned conduction of two types of examination in a single sitting. in the school.

Meanwhile, APPDSU informed that it has held a threadbare discussion with the School Managment and Development  Committee (SMDC) yesterday at the residence of the SMDC chairman. It was mutually agreed by both the parties in the meeting that the School Managing & Development Committee would further initiate to amicably solve the school land dispute.

The settlement would be made as per the official school map of 1996 within short period of time without hampering school activities.

However, it was also agreed that the APPDSU would take its own course of action if the SMDC fails to solve it within the expected time period.

APPDSU further clarified its stand that the union was not interested in the personal issues of the teaching staffs of the school and locality. The only agenda of the union is to save the school land from the illegal encroachment and create an environment within the school campus that is conducive for teaching and learning.

The Union further cautioned that any political interference or politicizing the issue will be viewed seriously.
